From November to January I have been involved with the Puppet Centre Trusts project
Working together to Strengthen Puppetry with the Puppetry Development Steering Group.
It has been inspiring and fascinating to meet the people involved:
Sue Buckmaster- Artistic Director of Theatre Rites
Joy Haynes- Director of the Norwich Puppet Theatre
Slavka Jovanovic- Head of Education and interim Artistic Director of the Little Angel
Eddie Berg- Head of the British Film Institute
The Puppetry Development Steering Group was brought together by the Puppet Centre Trust to discuss ways we could “Strengthen Puppetry together”. After five consultation meetings with various other creative sectors like Circus, StreetTheatre and Animation we concluded that something that could benefit our industry was better
- Leadership & Advocacy
- Talent Development
- Audience Development
Agreed upon this we set about putting together another Grant For The Arts Application to commit to a year of meetings with a selected group of Puppetry Practitioners from all over England that could develop strategies and share ideas to improve on the above mentioned criteria. I am representing Puppet Place in the Southwest as an Independent Puppetry Practitioner.
We have just received the news today that we have qualified for our Grant and will be carrying out these meetings. If you would like to know more about this process follow this link http://www.puppetcentre.org.uk/about/puppetry-consortium
